So what’s the deal here you evil son of a gun? It’s February 17th, the big digital television transition day…or not.
I just don’t get it at all. Someone please enlighten me about this whole transition and where the government is going with this.
We want to convert, but we can’t just yet. We ran out of money and ran out of coupons, so we’re pushing the national transition until June, making companies pay more money to keep their antenna signals running. To help those companies, we are allowing voluntary digital transitions, but individuals have to contact the FCC to do it?
This whole ordeal is just too complicated. I’m a hypocrite, because I use satellite and I don’t need all this shiznat, but I’m speaking for the millions of people who may or may not be able to enjoy their weekly re-runs of “I Love Lucy,” or even their local news, when this is all said and done.
I believe this digital television experience is just another perfect example of the evolution of our lives and how we’ve all grown to be controlled by technology. We rely on technology too much these days. Whatever happened to the times before the television set was invented, when families sat in the family room to talk and play board games?
Our lives are shaped by the latest technology and there’s no way for us to stop it. I’m a victim as well, or a beneficiary, however you want to call it, but I just think there are bigger things for the United States to worry about in the world than the ability to receive clearer television signals. I’m sure it’s more than that if we factor in our future, but to the majority of the public audience, this is how it seems, so enlighten us (or me at least).
